Cozumel Guide

WEATHER

Get the most current weather for Cozumel.

Generally speaking, I find the weather in Cozmel to be very, very tropical. This means humid and warm. And I do mean humid.

I often think that the "siesta" was invented in Cozumel. I usually do my dives in the morning so I am back around 12:30 or 1. It's the perfect time to shower, relax over a light lunch and then either head for a comfortable bed in the cool air-conditioning of the Casa or the lounge chairs on the verandah.

From around noon until 4:30 during the low season (summer), the sun is pretty merciless. The last thing you want to to do is walk in that heat. I usually opt for sitting someplace cool with a tall, cold drink and enjoying the view. But if you love the heat and humidity, then walking around town, playing miniature golf or driving to visit the local Mayan ruins will be the perfect afternoon activity for you.

Cozumel's "high" season is Mid December through Mid May (when the weather is cooler). "Low" season is Mid May through the middle of December. During the low season you may be lucky enough to experience an occasional thunder storm. I love watching the lightning from the verandah!

Whatever you do, dress for the hottest weather you've ever experienced. Stick with lightweight cotton and linen and comfortable sandals. Leave your silks and sweaters behind. You won't need them!
