OTHER ACTIVITIES
AND
RESOURCES
| Miniature Golf - Corner of Calle 1 and 15 Avenue (just 3 blocks in from the waterfront. The owners, Scott & Sally, are delightful. Play golf amidst waterfalls, shade, and ring the intercom to let them know what drinks you'd like to have and they'll bring them to you while you sit at their lovely tables and chairs scattered about the course. |
| 18-Hole Golf - This is on the north side of the island and is supposed to be a spectacular golf course. I don't golf, but it's been highly recommended to me by those that do. |
| Submarine & Semi-Submergible Trips - Atlantis and Nautilus IV are available for rides daily. If you don't scuba but would love to enjoy the sealife, this is your "E" ticket. Located south of the Casa. |
| Deep Sea Fishing - Cozumel is rated one of the top ten places in the world to sport fish. You'll find sailfish, marlin, kingfish, bonito, dorado, wahoo, and tuna. Peak season is in the spring. Here's a listing of the more popular deep sea fishing outfits. |
| Scuba Repairs - I fortunately (knock on wood) haven't needed my scuba gear to be repaired, yet finding a good repair shop is one of the first things I always check out wherever I go. Javier is a legend on Cozumel with all the diving pros. So if you need it, here's where to go. |
| Movies - You can find a modern 7-screen theater behind Chedraui, across the street from the Casa. Most of the first-run features are in English with Spanish subtitles. |
| Hyperbaric Chamber - Another important resource for you divers! I recommend you take a tour of the place. It's sparkling clean, wonderful airconditioning. And they had someone in the Chamber while I was there and the care I observed was excellent. These guys are absolutely incredible! Last year, one of my friends had bleeding from her ear and nose and didn't tell me until 2 days later. (Hopefully you're smarter than that!) I dragged her down immediately to the doctors, it was 10 at night, and they were fabulous. Fixed her up with a prescription, went to the pharmacy and thankfully she was fine a few days. And DAN covered it all. |
| DAN (Diver's Alert Network) - If you're a diver and you're not a member of DAN, well..in our opinion, you're taking unnecessary chances with your life. Membership is cheap and your life (and your family's) is worth it. |
| Tours of the Mayan Ruins - There a lots of ruins all over the Yucatan--Chichen Itzá, Tulum, Akumal -- to name just a few. And many of them are available in a day trip from Cozumel. If you're a history buff, you cannot help but be fascinated by these places. Xel-Há is another place that is similar to Xcaret. By all means, if your trip allows and you're so inclined, visit them! |
